5 Phenomenal Reasons Why I was a Vegetarian for Four Years -- and Why You Should be too!

I wouldn’t consider myself too much of a health nut. I do exercise two, maybe three times a week, and I try to eat healthy foods, but sometimes I don’t do it. In this article, I’m just going to talk to you about why for four years I was a strict vegetarian

A lot of people get vegetarians slack because they ask them where they’re going to get their protein from. They say it’s weird. And vegetarians usually fire back and say that killing animals is wrong. I’m not going to get into any of that stuff. But I will tell you is that there are some great reasons to be a vegetarian right now.

Energy

When I started on a strict vegetarian diet I could see my energy levels go up. You know, it’s just that kind of weird feeling where you just feel more alive. When you start eating more fruits and vegetables and then exercising too, you will feel the difference.

The way that I would describe it, was before I changed my diet, I would kind of feel this grogginess during the day. When I was a strict vegetarian, I wouldn’t feel something like that at all. I would go about my day, and I would have a regular amount of energy. I mean I didn’t give up coffee or anything, but I didn’t have that much of a slump when it came to my energy levels

Digestion

Another reason why I became a vegetarian was because of digestion. Do you feel that weird sensation, when you eat some meat, maybe a steak, and you just feel lethargic? You just feel like you wanna go to bed. Well, that’s your body telling you that you need to digest that food for a while. You need to divert some of your energy and use it towards breaking down all that meat. If you’re vegetarian, then you’ll probably never really get that sensation. I never got it at all

Skin

For me. I have a little bit of a skin problem. I mean everybody has something to complain about about their skin. If you’re a vegetarian, then it usually clears it right up. I mean what is skin irritation if not something to do with your immune system. It’s your immune system responding to the stuff that you eat, isn’t it? Isn’t that like when people are eating lots of oily foods, then their skin gets oily. I didn’t get that as a vegetarian. My skin was pretty clear, not to mention that it was hydrated all the time. Surprise, a lot of fruits and vegetables are made of water

Sleep

Would you rather wake up feeling groggy, or would you rather wake up willing to attack the day? Me, as a vegetarian, I would wake up and I wouldn’t have that real grogginess. I guess we could call it some type of brain fog. Instead of that, I would wake up and I would just be able to do a little bit of exercise, and just go about my day. It’s a great feeling.

Nutrition

Everybody knows that you can get all your nutrients and minerals from vegetables and fruits. I mean, probably except for vitamin B and protein, fruits, and vegetables are basically where it’s at. I know that there are people that say that you can get protein from vegetables and fruits, and I’m not arguing that, but at the same time, maybe the general consensus is that you can get your protein from meat. And that’s OK. The point is that, because you’re eating more fruits and vegetables you’ll feel better, your skin will get clearer, and you’ll have better sleep. I don’t see a downside at all

Hopefully, this was a little bit insightful for you. I know that vegetarianism isn’t the most popular view in the entire world, probably the majority of people do eat meat in the world. And that’s OK, if you wanna live a unique life, sometimes you gotta do the things that other people aren’t willing to do. At this point in my life right now, I would say I’m probably a 70% vegetarian. I do eat some meat, and it’s probably just because I’m lazy to be a strict vegetarian like I was before

I’m not saying that a vegetarian diet is for everybody, but for those of you who want to try vegetarianism, I recommend it. There are so many advantages to being a vegetarian.

By being a vegetarian, you can be that one guy at the party or girl, that says, sorry no I don’t eat meat. And then you can smile to yoursef because you feel special. Not like all the other meat-eaters. Enjoy.
